Bike the Light Rail: Lynnwood Extension (Leisurely)

Join us for a one-way transit tour from Northgate Station to Lynnwood City Center Station on a 13 mile route at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace to celebrate the opening of the Lynnwood Light Rail Extension!

We will meet at ground level at the south entrance to the Northgate light rail station (10200 1st Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125). Parking can be found in adjacent parking lots. Transit access is from Sound Transit's 1 Line light rail (Northgate Station) and a variety of King County Metro Bus routes.

Please be ready to ride at 1:00 PM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

We will visit a total of 1 future and 4 brand new light rail stations on this ride at which we will pause briefly to observe them before ending at Lynnwood City Center Station. Riders have the option to take the 1 Line of the light rail to return to the start or ride back on their own (see return route in list of links for reference). We will take a restroom & snack break at Evergreen Playfield in Mountlake Terrace (mile 10.9). There are restrooms near the start at Northgate light rail station (you will have to ask a security guard for access).

The route is mostly on paved roads and trails.

Please note: this ride is expected to last around 3 hours (estimated finish by 4:00 pm) and will end at Lynnwood City Center Station.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
