Lake Union History Ride - 2024 Edition (Leisurely)

Join us for a history ride from Gas Works Park on a 12.5 mile route around Lake Union at a Leisurely (10-12 mph average on flat ground) pace!

We will meet at the east end of the parking lot at Gas Works Park (2157 N Northlake Way, Seattle, WA 98103). Bicycle access is just off the Burke-Gilman Trail across the street. Parking can be found in the adjacent parking lot. Transit access includes biking from the Link light rail station at UW (2 miles away) or biking from King County Metro Bus routes 32 and 62 each with stops a few blocks away.

Please be ready to ride at 9:30 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that’s done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

There are a total of 10 short stops on this ride during which the ride leader will tell a story about the history/geography/etc. for a couple of minutes. We will take a restroom & water break at the Center for Wooden Boats (mile 7.4). There are restrooms near the start in Gas Works Park.

The route is mostly on paved roads and trails with a short segment on packed gravel.

Please note: due to all of the starts/stops, this ride is expected to last around 3.5 hours (estimated finish around 1:00 pm).

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post a ride-canceled note in the Comments section below at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
