... of 15 spots remaining

The Cedar River area is calling us, and we must answer! We'll meet at Ron Regis Park off the Maple Valley Highway at 10 AM, ready to ride, then go through our required safety briefing and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

This route starts with the major climb of the day up to the Renton Highlands, then heads north to May Valley Road, then east to the Tiger Mountain Store and a brief pit stop. We'll then go south on Cedar Grove Road to Lake Francis Road and over to 276th. A nice downhill to the Cedar River awaits us, then a cruise on Summit Landsburg Road into Maple Valley and lunch at Panera. After lunch, we'll take the hard packed gravel trail alongside Lake Wilderness to Witte Road and the Cedar River Trail for our return. Finally we'll hit Jones Road to get us back to the start.

Our goal will be to stay together but we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping when it is safe to do so. Please bring navigation aids, in case you find yourself substantially off of group pace and need to finish on your own. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).

Restrooms (no water in winter) are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms at mile 9.5. Bring money for lunch at Panera in Maple Valley at mile 24.3.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please be sure to have fenders if the roads are wet.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.

We hope you can join us!

Distance
37 mi.
Elevation Gain
1,731 ft.
Pace
Steady: [12-14mph]

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

Terrain
Rolling

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
