Let's meet beside the East Lake Sammamish Trail, next to Marymoor Village Garage. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will start riding along the Bear Creek Trail in Redmond, join the Sammamish River Trail heading north to Woodinville, then join the North Creek Trail in Bothell, after which we meander along surface streets and a short unpaved section of trail, returning via Maltby, Cottage Lake and Redmond. Some roads do not have a bike lane, but they are not generally busy roads.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. There are about 14 miles of flat bike trails so we will ride up the allowed legal maximum speed along those sections (usually 15 MPH but could be 10 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start, but Marymoor Park's restrooms are close by. There is also a porta potty along the Lake Sammamish Trail behind Whole Foods. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at Wilmot Gateway Park at mile 8, and Farrel McWhirter park at mile 36. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at the Maltby Cafe at around mile 23.
A working white headlight and red rear taillight are highly recommended to help keep us visible to motorists.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
