Join us for an Eastside ride from East Parking Lot in Marymoor Park in Redmond on a 37 mile route at Steady pace of 12-14 MPH!
This route explores mostly quiet (and scenic!) back roads on the Eastside. It begins by winding through Marymoor Park. After climbing the 520 trail, we will head north past Bridle Trails and a pit stop at Grass Lawn Park. From there, we will cross the 405 pedestrian crossing and enjoy views of Lake Washington, continuing for a short jaunt on the hard-packed gravel of the Cross-Kirkland Trail. We will briefly join back up with the 520 trail before winding through quiet Medina to our lunch stop at Belle Pastry in downtown Bellevue. We will make our way to I-90 trail and ride along the Mountains to Sound Greenway through Eastgate. Finally, after making our way through Lake Hills, we will drop back down to Lake Sammamish and retrace our steps through Marymoor Park.
Let's meet at the East Parking Lot in Marymoor Park (no parking fee) at 10:00 am for our pre-ride safety briefing and immediate departure. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This route is moderately hilly. Our goal will be to stay together but we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping when it is safe to do so. The ride becomes self-led for those ahead of or behind the group. Please bring navigation aids, in case you find yourself substantially off of group pace and need to finish on your own. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 12, 23 and 30. Bring money for lunch at Belle Pastry in Bellevue. Many other options are available nearby along Main St.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please be sure to have fenders if the roads are wet.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will post cancelation at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
