We will start in the parking lot at Ron Regis Park and ride up the Cedar River Trail to Dorre Don.  Then we'll cross the Cedar River on an old railroad bridge and have a group photo op.  There are two 1/4 mile sections of packed gravel on the Cedar River Trail. The lunch stop is at Panera Bread (see link).  After lunch the route meanders through tranquil neighborhoods (and a third 1/4 mile section of packed gravel) over to Lake Meridian where we start the Soos Creek Trail.  After exiting Soos Creek Trail there is a short pitch up a 5% grade but we will wait for everyone at the top.  Just before the end there is a mile-long descent on a 9% grade down 140th Ave.  We expect to be back at the start about 2:30 pm. 

Start: Arrive at Ron Regis Park in time to get your bike and accessories ready so we can start at 10:00 am. We will begin with the required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.   All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

Regroup: We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping at the tops and bottoms. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum.

Restrooms: At the start; Lunch at Panera Bread at mile 14.8;  Soos Creek Trail restrooms/water stop at mile 29.7.

What to bring: Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
