Join us for a ride from Marymoor Park's East Lot in Redmond on a 34 mile route at Steady Pace (12-14 mph)!

This quiet, somewhat hilly route explores the trails and backroads of Sammamish. From the East Lake Sammamish Trail, we will warm up with a climb up the Sammamish Plateau via Louis Thompson Rd and wind through quiet neighborhoods to our first rest stop at Pine Lake. Continuing on, we will enjoy dramatic views of Mt Si and the Cascade Range rising above the Snoqualmie Valley. Our next rest stop takes us to Beaver Lake Park and onward to our lunch stop at Starbucks. After lunch, we will climb our final hill before enjoying a long winding downhill back down to Lake Sammamish.

Let's meet at the East Marymoor Lot (no parking fee) and please be ready to ride at 10 am. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping at the top. Our goal will be to regroup frequently along the route.

Water and Restrooms are available near the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 10, 19 and 27. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks/lunch at Starbucks at mile 27.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
