... of 10 spots remaining
This 'Pie Ride' starts at the Wayne Park Bothell and is all 'paved trail' on the Burke Gilman.
Let's meet at the Wayne Park Bothell. Be there, ready to go at 11:45 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will head straight to the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) in Bothell, a short distance for pie. A variety of homemade pies with whipped or ice cream, cookies and coffee are usually available for riders to purchase at a reasonable price. Please note: purchases can be made with cash (small bills please), charge or debit cards. We will be there for about 30 - 60 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and then start cycling on the Burke Gilman Trail to work off that pie.
Route: Enjoy this scenic bike ride along the Burke Gilman Trail to Matthews Beach Park where we will take a break and then head back to the Wayne Park Bothell. This is an out and back ride.
The terrain is flat and paved.
Pace: Steady Pace (12-14 mph)
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Be Prepared: Bring a spare tube to fix a flat, just in case. Dress for the weather in layers that can be added or taken off. Other things to bring are water bottle and a small snack.
Parking: Free parking at the Wayne Park Bothell parking lot.
Restrooms: Available at the start (portable toilet) near the parking lot. If needed, we can stop along the way for restrooms/water in 1/4 mile at Blyth Park. We’ll also stop for restrooms at the North Shore Senior Center, just under a mile from the start.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together as a group. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
