... of 10 spots remaining
The ride encompasses 3 scenic trails and Kirkland roads with a few hills. There is a stop for pie at the beginning of the ride. A second stop is planned at mile 12.4 at Zip Dak Market. There are snacks for purchase and a public restroom.
Let's meet at the Wayne Park, Bothell at 11:45 AM. Be there, ready to go at 11:45 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We will head straight to the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) in Bothell, a short distance for pie. A variety of homemade pies with whipped or ice cream, cookies and coffee are usually available for riders to purchase at a reasonable price. Please note: purchases can be made with cash (small bills please), charge or debit cards. We will be there for about 30 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and then start cycling on the Sammamish River Trail to work off that pie.
Route: Enjoy riding on the Sammamish River Trail, Eastrail, Cross Kirkland Corridor and Kirkland roads.
The terrain has some hills. There are 5.3 miles of hard packed gravel which are easy to ride on a road bike.
Pace: Steady Pace (12-14 mph)
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Be Prepared: Bring a spare tube to fix a flat, just in case. Dress for the weather in layers that can be added or taken off. Other things to bring are water bottle and a small snack.
Parking: Free parking at the Wayne Park Bothell parking lot.
Restrooms: Available at the start (portable toilet) near the parking lot. If needed, we can stop along the way for restrooms/water in 1/4 mile at Blyth Park. We’ll also stop for restrooms at the North Shore Senior Center, just under a mile from the start.
Weather Cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride location.
