BAKERY RIDE: We will ride north on the Burke-Gilman Trail, merging onto the Sammamish River Trail, to the Hillcrest Bakery, www.hillcrestbakery.com, in downtown Bothell. We will take time for a sweet or savory break at the bakery(ies). Other choices east along Main St. are the Countryside Doughnut House, the Sushi Zone, the Ranch Drive-In (killer french fries) and Alexa's Cafe. Baskin and Robbins is across the street. Coffee is available at all locations and at Social Grounds Coffee & Tea Co. just north of the bakeries. We will stay for about 20 to 30 minutes, weather permitting and then return to Matthews Beach. Helmets and a functioning bicycle are required. Depending upon the business, they may take cards only, cards and cash, so be prepared with cards and cash if you intend to make a purchase. There are 3 rest stops available. We will stop upon request.
Route: Come, have fun, converse and enjoy this social bike ride along two of our scenic urban trails. The terrain is flat.
Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.
Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or be the caboose.
Ride start: We meet at the Matthews Beach parking lot. Please be ready to ride at 11:30 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. Note: Water and restrooms are available at the start.
Be Prepared: Be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire or have a rescue plan, e.g. bus pass (ORCA card).
Register: Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Arrive early to beat the seagulls for a good spot.
Weather cancelation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride location.
