Ride start: Please be ready to ride by 5:30pm for the required SMART briefing before leaving on the ride. Water and restrooms are available at the start location. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Route: Come have fun and enjoy this bike ride from Matthews Beach to Medina Beach and back. We will take a short mid-ride restroom/water break at the Medina City Hall/Beach. The terrain is fairly flat with some hill climbing on the 520 bridge section and north bound from Medina. The route goes through the UW, near Husky Stadium and by the light rail station.
Fenders: If the roads are wet, come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the rider behind you dry or be the caboose.
Parking: Free parking at Matthews Beach parking lot. Be sure to secure your valuables.
Pace: The pace is steady at 12 to 14 mph, NOTE: on the BGT or other trails, we will observe the posted speed limit.
Food: Bring food or snacks to eat on the ride, there will be no meal break.
Mechanical: Be prepared to handle mechanical issues, if you have a problem e.g. flat tire. Bring a spare tube, tools, patch kit, pump and skills to fix flats and have a mobile phone and a plan for rescue in case your bike fails.
Cue sheets: None provided. See the Route Map link.
Weather cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email.
