PIE RIDE: We will ride the Sammamish RiverTrail through Marymoor Park to the North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) in Bothell, just beyond Blyth Park. The plan is to arrive at the same time as the group coming from Matthews Beach. We then take a pie, brownie or cookie break at NSSC. A variety of homemade pies with whipped or ice cream, sodas and coffee are usually available for riders to purchase at a reasonable price.  Please note: purchases may be with cash(small bills please), charge or debit cards (plastic purchases are a minimum of $1.00). We will be there for about 30 to 60 minutes, use the restrooms if needed and then return.

There are currently no COVID-19 protocols listed on their website. Vaccinations are strongly encouraged. Having a mask at hand is a good idea to be sure you can gain entrance to the facility.  For latest updates, see the North Shore Senior Center link below, and go to the "News" section.

Route: Come, have fun, converse and enjoy this social bike ride along the Sammamish River Trail.  The terrain is flat.

Pace: Steady Pace

Cue sheets: No cue sheets provided. Stay together ride.

Fenders: If the riding surfaces are wet, please come equipped with fenders long enough to keep the person riding behind you dry or be the caboose.

Ride start: Please be ready to ride at 11:00 a.m. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. Note: Porta Potty available at the start.

Be Prepared:  Be prepared if you have a mechanical problem e.g. flat tire or have a rescue plan, e.g. bus pass (ORCA card).

Register: Please sign an e-waiver by clicking on the “Register Now” button at the top of this page (right below the ride title) and enter your information.

Parking: If the parking lot is full, park at the free Marymoor lot.

Weather cancelation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride location.

If you have questions, please contact the Ride Leader.

Distance
23 mi.
Elevation Gain
350 ft.
Pace
Steady: [12-14mph]

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

Terrain
Mostly Flat

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
