The Getting Ready to Ride Series
Are you new to bicycling or just been off of your bike for a while? Perhaps you have resolved to ride more this year or have signed up for a big ride like STP? If so, Getting Ready to Ride might be just for you! It is an 8-week series starting with a flat, easy ride and adding a little more challenge each week. We will regroup frequently and definitely at the top of any climbs.
This Week's Ride
Join us for a ride from Matthews Beach on a 21 mile route at steady pace (12-14 mph)! Let's meet at the Matthews Beach parking lot at 10:00. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is one of the flattest bike rides we could find, ideal to get started. Over 85% of it is on multi-use trails. Restrooms are available at the start and at our mid-point at Wilmot Gateway Park (10 miles).
Final Words
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
