The Getting Ready to Ride Series
Are you new to bicycling, or just been off your bike for a while? Perhaps you've resolved to ride more this year, or have signed up for a big ride like STP? If so, Getting Ready to Ride might be just for you. It is an eight-week series starting with a flat and easy ride, and adding a little more challenge each week. We will regroup frequently and definitely at the top of any climbs.
This Week's Ride
Join us for a ride from Lower Woodland Park on a 23 mile route at leisurely pace (10-12 mph)! Let's meet just south of the Lower Woodland Soccer Field #2 on the path between the soccer field and the baseball field, opposite N 52nd Street. Be ready to ride at 10:00 am. We will start with the required pre-ride safety briefing, and ride when that is done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This week we will ride north on the Fremont Ave Greenway and Interurban Trail to Shoreline. We will then head east over I5 and prepare to enjoy a thrilling descent down Perkins Lane to Lake Forest Park. We return via the Burke Gilman Trail and Ravenna Park. Portable toilets are available at the start and restrooms at the Town Center at Lake Forest Park m 11.6.
Final Words
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
