Getting Ready to Ride Seattle #5: Lower Woodland Park-Genesee Park (Steady)
Event has already happened.
** STARTS AT Lower Woodland Park THIS WEEK **
The Getting Ready to Ride Series
Are you new to bicycling, or just been off your bike for a while? Perhaps you've resolved to ride more this year, or have signed up for a big ride like STP? If so, Getting Ready to Ride might be just for you. It is an eight-week series starting with a flat and easy ride, and adding a little more challenge each week. We will regroup frequently and definitely at the top of any climbs.
This Week's Ride
Join us for a ride from Lower Woodland Park on a 23 mile route at steady pace (12-14 mph)! Let's meet just south of the Lower Woodland Soccer Field #2 on the path between the soccer field and the baseball field. Porta-potties are on the south corner of the path. Be ready to ride at 10:00 am. We will start with the required pre-ride safety briefing, and ride when that is done. If you miss the briefing you will not be able to join this ride.
This week we ride south across the Montlake Bridge and down the Lake Washington waterfront to Genesee Park following the Lake Washington Bike Loop. On the return we ride through beautiful Colman Park to a photo op at the I-90 Bridge overlook. We continue through the Arboretum and the University of Washington campus. Restrooms are available at the start and at Genesee Park (10 miles).
Final Words
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancelation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will send cancellation email at least two hours prior to the start and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location.
We hope you can join us!
