Start: Let's meet in the Renton Stadium South Parking Lot and please be ready to ride at 10:00 am. We will start with a Route Review and required safety briefing then roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. 

Enjoy the curves and views around Mercer Island during the Summer. There are no restrooms at the start, so there will be a restroom and water stop at Gene Coulon Park (mile 2.2). We continue north on the Lake Washington Bike Loop Trail up to Mercer Slough. There is an optional rest stop at Enatai Beach Park (mile 8.9).  We cross the East Channel bridge on the I-90 Bike Lane and regroup.  The first time around we cruise Mercer Island clockwise.   We will start each Mercer Island loop together but climb and coast the curves and rollers in our own comfort zone.  Lunch stop (mile 21.4) is at Metropolitan Market.  After lunch, we reverse the route back around Mercer Island loop counter-clockwise to the I-90 trail and regroup. Then it's back over Lake Washington and down the east side of the lake to Renton. We should get back to the start about 3 pm.

What to bring:  Supplies and tools to fix a flat, cell phone in case you cannot finish, water bottles, and pocket snacks.

Restrooms: Gene Coulon Park (2.2 miles), Aubrey Davis Park (20), Lunch (21.4), Gene Coulon Park (40)

Cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
