Let's meet at the Lower Woodland Park Softball Fields (toward the Green Lake end of the parking lot). Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
We'll ride from the Green Lake area in Seattle around the north end of Lake Washington and south to Bellevue, where we'll stop for lunch or coffee. Our destination is Mercurys Coffee Company, Bellevue Bakery and Roastery location (see link). If you haven't been there, you're in for a treat. This is no dinky drive-through Mercurys! Our route follows bicycle-friendly streets through North Seattle, Shoreline, and Lake Forest Park to the Burke-Gilman Trail. We ride through Kirkland and take the Cross Kirkland Corridor (CKC) Trail then the 520 Trail to Bellevue, then head back across the 520 bridge, the Burke-Gilman Trail, and city streets to the finish. The CKC Trail is compact gravel, suitable for most road bike tires.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently. Our Steady pace of 12-14 MPH on the flats will keep us below the speed limit on most multi-use paths (usually 15 MPH), but we may need to slow down for an occasional 10 MPH speed limit.
Restrooms are available at the start, at the center of the softball field area. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at mile 9.5, Log Boom Park. Our coffee/food stop, Mercurys Coffee Co., is at mile 24.
Bring a bike lock for our stop; there are no bike racks, but there is a lot of railing space, and good visibility from inside the building.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
