🐯 Meet-up & Rollout
We'll meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer, in the southwest parking area, ready to roll at 9:00 AM. Arrive a little early if you need to use the restroom or stock up on snacks and drinks. We'll kick things off with a mandatory Tiggerific safety briefing before heading out. All riders must attend the briefing to participate. No exceptions, even for ghosts! 👻
🎃 Costumes, Climbs & a Little Halloween Mayhem!
Hooa! It's costume time! Dust off your capes, summon your spooky spirit, and get ready for 45 miles of Halloween fun, including a MONSTER of a climb! 🧟 Costumes are encouraged, but please keep them bicycle-friendly. Make sure you can see clearly, operate your brakes and shifters, and steer without restrictions. Avoid loose or dangling accessories that could get tangled in your chain, wheels, or another rider's bicycle. Let's keep the scares pretend!
🚴 The Spooktacular Route
We'll ease into the adventure with a six-mile warm-up through Les Gove, Game Farm, and Roegner Parks before tackling our big climb up Lakeland Hills toward Lake Tapps. From there, we'll traverse the Osceola area, pass by Maris Farms, and continue north passing by Thomasson Farm. 🎃 Then, we'll enjoy a well-earned descent into Green Valley and follow the river back toward Auburn. We'll tackle the climbs and descents at our own pace, with regroups along the way. On multi-use paths, we'll observe posted speed limits (generally 15 mph, and sometimes 10 mph on park trails). You'll notice this ride is a bit shorter than the usual--that is to give riders enough time to head home to get ready for trick-or-treating, or go to a fun Halloween party.
🚻 Rest Stops & Refreshments
Restrooms and snacks are available at the start. We'll also make two planned restroom stops:
🚻 Mile 13: Allen York Park
🚻 Mile 33: Whitney Bridge
There are no scheduled coffee, water, or snack stops, so bring enough fuel and hydration to keep your inner monster happy! 🍬
🔧 What to Bring
Come prepared with a spare tube, flat-repair tools, phone, ID, payment method, ORCA card, water, and a snack. If the roads are wet, please use full fenders. Riders without them may be asked to ride at the back of the group to avoid spraying their fellow ghouls.
🌧️ Weather & Cancellation
A little Halloween fright is welcome. A rainy ride? Not so much! If rain is expected, the ride may be canceled. We'll also adjust the route if unexpected hazards or conditions make it necessary. Registered riders will receive an email notification if the ride is canceled. If cancellation occurs at least two hours before the scheduled start, ride leaders will not be at the start location. Please check your email before heading out.
🎃 It's going to be a frightfully fun day on two wheels!
