TREATS: Kirkland – Mercer Island – Lake Union (Steady)

Join us for a relaxed, social ride starting in Kirkland. This is a very scenic route that wanders south through Kirkland and Bellevue, then across Mercer Island and through the I-90 tunnel to the Seattle waterfront.  Return will be via the Westlake Protected Bike Lane (along the west shore of Lake Union) and across the SR 520 Bridge.

Please note: Since we’ll be riding on some congested city streets and trails, this is a route for more experienced cyclists. 

Water and restrooms are available immediately following the start (approximately mile 0.2).  We’ll stop on Mercer Island for a restroom break (mile 11).  Coffee/lunch will be at Mohai Cafe at mile 20. 

Let’s meet at Heritage Park on Waverly Way near downtown Kirkland.  Please be fully prepared to start riding no later than 10:00 a.m. Prior to that we’ll have the required safety briefing. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group.  

There are a few hills, but we will climb them with a commensurate level of effort of a Steady pace and we will stay together.  

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring are phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, water and a small snack. 

Please have full fenders with mudflaps if the roads are wet, or you are asked to ride at rear of the group. 

If there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
