... of 15 spots remaining
Come join us for HOOA! It’s the Great Pumpkin — a big, beautiful fall ride through the valleys, foothills, and backroads of South King and Pierce Counties. 🍂
Let’s meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer. Please arrive with enough time to get yourself and your bike ready before the listed start time. We’ll begin with our required safety briefing, and once that’s done, we ride! All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Our autumn adventure takes us through the Auburn Valley and Lakeland Hills, around Lake Tapps, and toward Buckley before heading into the forests around Mud Mountain. From there we’ll loop back through Enumclaw, Nolte State Park, and Black Diamond before making our way back to Auburn. Expect fall colors, farmland, forests, foothills, quiet country roads, and hopefully enough pumpkins along the way to justify the name. 🎃
We’ll climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we’ll regroup occasionally throughout the ride. On multi-use paths, we’ll keep our speed within the posted legal limit — usually 15 MPH and occasionally 10 MPH.
Restrooms are available at the start.
We’ll also stop for restrooms and water at Allan Yorke Park at mile 12.5, Mud Mountain at mile 31.5, and Nolte State Park at mile 43.5.
And because every respectable autumn adventure deserves baked goods, we’ll stop for coffee and snacks at Black Diamond Bakery at mile 52. ☕🥐
A quick note about construction at #3055A sq̓ʷəlacucid* (mile 26). If necessary, we will follow detours around construction and back towards SE Mud Mountain. The detour should only add about 1/2 a mile or so.
Bring a spare tube and the tools you need to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring include your phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, ORCA card, plenty of water, and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Nobody wants to spend a beautiful fall ride eating someone else’s rooster tail.
If weather conditions meet the cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status, or if unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events arise, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will receive an email notification. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride. Grab your bike, bring your climbing legs, and come chase some fall colors with us. The Great Pumpkin awaits. 🎃🚲🍁
