Free Group Ride
Not so Chilly Hilly Plus Sightseeing (Moderate)
... of 10 spots remaining
Let's meet at the Colman Docks for a 35 mile tour of Bainbridge Island using the Chilly Hilly route with several sightseeing stops along the way including the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial and Pia the Peacekeeper.
Plan on being in the bicycle loading area before 9:15 to board the 9:35 ferry. Riders will need to ride through the toll gate and pay $12.35 (age 19 - 64) or $6.65 (age 65+) for the round trip fare. Washington State Ferries generally begin loading vehicles and passengers 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, right after the arriving boat has unloaded and cleared the previous passengers. If you want to be loaded before the cars, you need to be there at the start of loading, else you will have to wait until the end.
We'll have the required safety briefing on board the ferry in the cafe area. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
After disembarkation on Bainbridge, we will regroup out of traffic on the right by the Bainbridge Island Bike Barn.
Regroup: We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping frequently with the goal of staying together the entire route.
Restrooms: Available at the ferry terminal and on the ferry. We will stop for restrooms/water at mile 15 (Battle Point Park). There will be a 30 minute food/rest stop at mile 25 (Lynwood Center).
What to Bring: A spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Also: phone, ID, cash and/or credit card; water and snacks.
Return: Ferries run approximately every hour (1:15, 2:05, 2:55, 3:50 . . . ). There is no additional fee to return to Seattle.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions (including high heat or poor air quality) or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
