Gas Works to Lake Ballinger for Bahn Mi (Steady)
... of 10 spots remaining
Let's meet at the east end of the parking lot at Gas Works Park. Be there, ready to go at 9 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Seattle Deli used to be my favorite Bahn Mi shop in Seattle’s International District. They moved to Edmonds several years ago but kept their name, and I've been wanting to see if they're still as good as they were before! This 29 mile route takes us from Gas Works to Seattle Deli in Edmonds where we can order sandwiches or fresh rolls etc. to go. Bring a pannier or something to carry your order because we will then ride to Lake Ballinger for a picnic lunch. For those who need a coffee, I’ve read they have good Vietnamese coffee too.
Most of our climbing will come before lunch as we head north to Edmonds, but we will also have to climb out of Lake Ballinger after lunch. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently so that we can generally stay together. This route mostly takes us on several multi-use trails (where the speed limit is 15 MPH and Class 3 E-bikes are prohibited), but we will also be using surface streets.
Restrooms are available at the start. We will also stop for restrooms/water/lunch at Lake Ballinger Park at mile 13.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
