We’ll meet at the W6 parking lot in Magnuson Park. Look for my white Sprinter van—your beacon for the ride. Please arrive early enough to be ready to roll at the listed start time above. A required safety briefing will begin shortly before departure, and all riders must attend.
🌿 🚴♂️ 🚴 🚴♀️
Lake Washington Floating Bridges Classic is a scenic 29-mile loop from Magnuson Park, linking Lake Washington shoreline riding, quiet morning roads, wide bridge pathways, and two of the area’s most impressive floating bridges: the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge / SR 520 Bridge and the Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge / I-90 Bridge. Along the way, we’ll enjoy expansive lake views and a front-row experience of Seattle’s remarkable floating-bridge engineering.
We’ll start a little earlier than usual to take advantage of quieter morning roads, giving the group a calmer, more relaxed start to the ride.
🌿 Did You Know?
Seattle’s floating bridges are modern marvels of civil engineering—and on this ride, we’ll experience two of the longest floating bridges in the world by bike. Because Lake Washington is deep—over 200 feet in places—and its lakebed is soft and challenging for traditional bridge construction, these bridges float on massive hollow concrete pontoons secured by heavy anchors and steel cables.
It’s a uniquely Seattle ride: engineering, water, sky, and Lake Washington views— all in one loop!
This ride is designed to be scenic, steady, and manageable. There are a few short climbs as we approach the bridge decks, but nothing sustained. We will climb and descend at our own pace, regroup frequently, and observe all posted pathway speed limits—typically 10 or 15 mph—to keep the ride safe and respectful for everyone using the multi-use paths. The ride is expected to take about three hours, depending on pace, regrouping, and conditions.
🌿 Market & Restrooms
We’ll stop at Metropolitan Market for coffee, pastries, and a chance to regroup before the final miles. Portable restrooms are available at the start, around miles 11 and 21, at Metropolitan Market around mile 28, and at the end. We’ll also pause at bridge viewpoints near miles 8 and 19 to enjoy the views.
