Wednesday Training & Fun - Ames Lake Edition (Vigorous)
Ride Contact
... of 20 spots remaining
Join us for a 31-mile ride at a Vigorous pace (18-20 mph on the flats) from the East Lake Sammamish Trail Parking Lot off of NE 70th St in Redmond. Additional Parking is available in the Marymoor Village Light Rail Parking Garage.
This is going to be a FUN ride. Highlights include several good climbs including the freshly completed and newly paved Louis Thompson, Ames Lake, and Union Hill. We will finish with a nice descent through Tuscany and down Redmond Rd back into Redmond. This ride will leave you feeling accomplished with just the right amount of spice!!!
Let's meet near the Port-a-Potty in the East Lake Sammamish Trail Parking Lot. Be there, ready to go by 6:00pm. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
A Restroom (Port-a-Potty) is available at the start. No Water at the start. We do not have any planned rest stops on this evening ride. We will stop briefly at the tops of the climbs to regroup and acknowledge our accomplishments.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace with brief regroups at the top of climbs. While we will endeavor to stay together, this is a fast paced ride and riders who are unable to maintain the pace and fall substantially behind the group may be dropped. If this happens, you will be riding independently and should have the route loaded and be prepared to navigate on your own. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
In the event of separation due to flats or other problems, riders should download the route file into a GPS device or have or have another method of navigating on their own
Bring a spare tube (or two) and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Riders should know how to change a flat, or deal with other minor mechanical issues and carry appropriate tools. Riders must have a backup plan if roadside repairs are not sufficient. Riders should have a charged cell phone to call for a pick-up or other means to find their way home. Please have long fenders if the roads are wet or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
