Let’s meet at the North Viking Park & Ride in Poulsbo. We’ll ride to Kitsap Lake and back! We will take a scenic cruise from Poulsbo south to the quiet Kitsap Lake and back. This ride has some hills and is 100% on Pavement. Lunch/Snacks will be at Kitsap Lake Park (mile 17.5). Bring food/snack items with you as their are no other amenities other than restrooms and water. The ride is 35.5 miles with 1,914 feet of elevation gain. We should be finished by 3pm.
Start: Arrive at North Viking Park & Ride in time to get your bike and accessories ready so we can start at 10:00 am. We will begin with the required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Regroup: We will endeavor to stay together as much as possible and we will regroup frequently and we will climb and descend hills at our own pace, regrouping at the tops and bottoms. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum.
Restrooms: No water or restrooms at the start. We will make a quick restroom stop at McDonalds (mile 0.7). The McDonald’s can also be used at the end of the ride. In addition to the lunch stop at Kitsap Lake Park, we will also stop at Silverdale Waterfront Park (mile24.3).
What to bring: Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel, and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
This is a mentored ride for Janet Anspach-Rickey who is looking forward to provide more riding opportunities on the Kitsap Peninsula. We hope you can join us!
