Bike Everywhere Month Proclamation: University of Washington to City Hall (Leisurely)

... participants registered
Let's meet at University of Washington, in the grassy area above the Triangle Garage near the Burke-Gilman Trail overpass. Here's a link to the specific location. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This is a one-way ride, with riders expected to find their own way home or back to the start point. To get home or return to the start, we recommend riding the route in reverse, or taking the light rail or bus.
We will ride along the Burke-Gilman Trail, across the Fremont Bridge, and travel south though Seattle to City Hall. Once we arrive at City Hall, we'll drop off our bikes with Cascade's Bike Valet and take a group photo around 1:50pm. Cascade will provide bike racks and volunteers to keep bikes secure until 3:00pm. You are welcome to bring your own bike lock to lock your bike elsewhere if you prefer.
After the photo, we'll go inside the City Hall building to join the City Council meeting. In the meeting, we'll celebrate the official City of Seattle proclamation of May as Bike Everywhere Month. Cascade's Tyler Vasquez will deliver a few remarks, followed by a short presentation from the City Council. This portion of the meeting is expected to end between 2:30-2:45pm.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will try to stay together as a group though the city. We may become separated at traffic lights and regroup. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start. There will be no stops between the start and end of the ride, other than stops for traffic signals. Restrooms will be available at City Hall.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
