Renton-Mercer Island-Madison Park Coffee Ride (Steady)

Let's meet at the the parking lot of Old Renton City Hall at 200 Mill Ave S. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

Join us for a 33-mile ride from Old City Hall in downtown Renton to the Starbucks in Madison Park for coffee. We’ll ride along Lake Washington Blvd N, cross Mercer Island via the I-90 bridge, and arrive in Madison Park around mile 19. After a 20-minute coffee break, we’ll return via Lake Washington Blvd S, Seward Park, and Rainier Ave S.

We'll ride at a pace of about 12 to 13 mph on flat sections in calm conditions. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup frequently. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the posted legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH). 

The ride will take about 3.5 hours including the coffee break. 

Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms and water at Gene Coulon Park (mile 2.5). We’ll also stop for coffee and snacks at the Madison Park Starbucks at mile 26.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
