Senior Ladies On Wheels (S.L.O.W.) invite everyone of every age and identity to explore the fabulous vistas from Seattle's famous hills while barely breaking a sweat. Keeping to ridgetops, we climb slowly and gradually to Jefferson Park on Beacon Hill, Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill, and the Mount Baker Ridge overlook. There's no shame in walking a block or more. We always wait for each other when we get separated by stop signs, traffic lights, or differences in rider speed.
This is a Cascade Bicycle Club Free Group Ride. It's a social ride with experienced ride leaders to grow your confidence with group riding. It is free and open to everyone. The route consists of neighorhood greenways, trails, a few low-traffic streets, and grand vistas.
Please arrive at the parking lot to the right of the Jimi Hendrix Park entrance by 6 pm. This is one block from the Judkins Park Link Station. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. If you miss the briefing, you will not be able to ride with the group.
"Easy Pace" is under 10 mph on flat surface without any headwind. Average walking speed is around 3 mph. We may take as much as 3 hours to ride this 12 mile course, including several stops. We will stay together, with the intent of allowing the slowest rider to set the pace. We will help you find your way back if you need to return to the start early. Carrying ORCA card is another good option.
You should dress appropriately for the weather, but you do not need spandex or other specialized bike gear. All you need is a working bike and a helmet. If you haven't ridden your bike for quite some time, please do a ABC Check (link below) or take it to your local bike shop a few days prior to the ride date.
Weather - Steady rain will cancel the ride. The ride leader will be at the start regardless of the weather to negotiate with those who show up.
We hope you will join us!

Event Announcements
Looking forward to riding with all of you!
I want to remind everyone to be prepared for unusually hot weather tomorrow. We haven't had much time to adapt to the heat, so we need to be extra careful to stay hydrated and not get overheated. Bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and be prepared to go extra slow riding up the hills (downhill will be especially fun tomorrow!). I may even decide to skip the third hill...
I have a personal reason to be cautious of heat - May 4th is my 80th birthday! I'm super tough! But at my age it's real easy to underestimate the danger of heat. So lets encourage each other to to take it easy and respect the dangers of heat.
