How about a ride all around Gig Harbor on Sunday? We'll start and end in the historic waterfront district. Most of the ride will be on rural roads outside of city limits. A few miles will be on Cushman Trail and we will loop into south Kitsap County for a bit. Optional post ride social - there's a an exceptional ice cream shop (Iscreamery) very close to where we are meeting and other food/ coffee options nearby.
Our meeting point is the public parking area behind the Timberland Bank on Judson street. We'll start with introductions and a safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Lots of hills on this route - we'll take them at our own paces and regroup after. We will also regroup before turns if we have gotten spaced out. This will be a "no-drop" ride - no rider left behind but riders are welcome to leave the group during the ride, as long as they let the ride leader know they are leaving. Please download the route if you are able.
There is a public washroom at Skansie Brothers park (3211 Harborview Drive) less than half a mile away from the start location. There are not a lot of facilities along the route, but there are porta-potties at Island View Market and Arletta store, just past the halfway point of the ride. There's some food for purchase at these markets, bringing a small snack or two recommended.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
