Join us for a mixed gravel and road ride from Fall City on a 35 mile route at moderate pace (14-16 mph) through the quiet and scenic Snoqualmie River Valley with a short refreshment stop at Carnation Farms Stand on the way back.
Let's meet at the Fall City Community Park. Please arrive early enough to be ready to ride by 10:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
ROUTE: The ride will begin with about 7 miles of packed gravel along the Snoqualmie Valley Trail (SVT). We will climb 204' in the first mile to access the trail at an average grade of 4.3% and a maximum grade of 8.2%. After that, we get to ride mostly downhill until our rest/restroom stop at Chinook Bend (mile 9). Next we have a few rollers on our way to the historic Red Barn, and then we climb up to Ames Lake just for the heck of it and roll down to the Carnation Farm stand for our mid-ride snack break. On our return to Fall City we will avoid downtown Carnation again by taking the SVT and connecting with the less traveled gravel Tolt River Trail. We will then return via the hillier version of the Red Barn route.
PACE: We will be riding at a MODERATE pace (14-16 mph on the flats), slower on the climbs and faster on the descents. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, but we will regroup as needed near the top of a climb or at major turns or intersections.
RESTROOMS: Porta Potties are available at the start and/or a short distance away along Neal Road Southeast. Restrooms will also be available at mile 9 at Chinook Bend Natural Area and at mile 20 at the Carnation Farms Stand.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, water, and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
