... of 20 spots remaining
Let's meet at the south end of the University of Washington Husky Stadium Light Rail Station. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Our one-way route today takes us from UW, across the 520 bridge, then south through Bellevue for a clockwise circuit around Mercer Island, and finally across the I-90 bridge to the newly opened Judkins Park Light Rail Station. Sound Transit is hosting a big party for our new segment of rail and two new stations opening today.
Please note that the ride ends at Judkins Park. Two options to return to the start location: Take the Light Rail, or ride the 6-mile return route shown in the additional links.
If you want to ride the new Light Rail segment across the bridge, Cascade Bicycle Club will have a bike valet area at Judkins Park, so you can ride the new segment, and then return to get your bike! Sound Transit now accepts credit cards in addition to ORCA cards at the fare tap-on points.
We'll proceed as a group, and regroup frequently as necessary. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (15mph on the trails we take).
Restrooms are NOT available at the start, so please plan accordingly. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at Enatai Beach Park, mile 10. Festivities at the finish
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
Today's ride will also serve as a mentored ride for Ride Leader candidate Max Ackermann.
We hope you can join us!
