Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking lot. Be there, ready to go at 10:00. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! We start out riding east to climb into the SE King County wilderness to find quiet Lake Morton, then we loop around the Lake Sawyer and Black Diamond neighborhoods. Then we'll hop over to the Lake Moneysmith rollers and then fly down the curvy segment called "WHEEE!" Then we make our way across the valley to climb Federal Way only to drop back down to Redondo...so we can climb out. Then we make our way north to the Des Moines Marina, and then retrace our steps back to Redondo, just so we can climb one more time before we make our way back to Auburn.
This ride is listed as Brisk (16-18 mph on flats) however, most of this route is either climbing or descending, with a series of rollers thrown in there. Climbs and descents are at your own pace, but then we'll regroup. If you go ahead of the ride leader, please have the route loaded to your device; if you miss a turn, you'll be on your own to get back on track, probably.
The scheduled stops
Mile 18 for bathroom and water Ten Trails Park
Mile 30 for refuel bathroom and drinks at Fred Meyer
Mile 46 for bathroom and water at Des Moines Marina
We also ride through Redondo at miles 40 and 52 if you need to use the bathroom, otherwise, we'll just roll through
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and small snacks. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If its a little drizzly, we're riding. If there's hazardous riding conditions or unexpected events, we will reroute in real time. All registered riders will be sent a notification email if the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, and Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us, HOOA!
