Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking lot. Be there, ready to go at 9:00 am. Come early if you need to buy water and snacks or use the bathroom. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! The Tiger Mountain Witch loop. We will be tracing a witch riding a broom as we explore the deep wilderness of SE King County. Our warm-up climb is up the long 2-4% Auburn Black Diamond Road. Then we continue this gentle climb as we turn left to visit Lake Morton. Then we make our way north through Maple Valley where we have our first bathroom break (mile 19). We keep on heading north to the Tiger Mountain Store where we will stop to refill our bottles and get a snack (mile 27). And then the Tiger Mountain climb and descent around Mirrormont. Then we make our way south to trace the "witches broom" aka, the Kanaskat Ravensdale loop. Our final bathroom stop will be (mile 50) at Ravensdale Park. Then it's mostly down hill from here, as we approach the Lake Holmes Rollers and make our final twisty turvy descent down "Wheeee!"
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and regroup to stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: Bring sunglasses! it's going to be fabulously sunny. If there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, we will reroute in real time. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, ride leaders will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join the Witch Hunt. HOOA!
