Let's meet at the Sammamish River Trail Parking Lot at 60 Acres Park. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Join us for a relaxed, social ride from Sixty Acres Park in Redmond on a 32 mile route at Steady Pace (12-14 mph on the flats).
Parking Note:
We are starting at the small lot right next to the Sammamish River Trail. There is probably enough parking there for all of us, but if the sun is out it may be congested. There is a large gravel parking lot across the street, or another large paved lot a block further east. Please leave yourself a couple extra minutes in case you park at one of those other lots so you can make your way to the start point.
Route Description:
Restrooms are available at the start (port-a-pot). This is a flat and almost entirely trail-based ride. We will take the Sammamish River Trail south to Marymoor park, then the Marymoor Connector Trail thru to the East Lake Sammamish Trail. At mile 6 we will pause at Sammamish Landing park for anyone that needs the restrooms, then continue south to Issaquah Coffee. If Issaquah Coffee is too crowded, we may go to Safeway/Starbucks at Issaquah Commons nearby. After our mid-ride snack break of about 20 minutes, we will return north on the East Lake Sammamish Trail. We will again pause at the Sammamish Landing Park at about mile 25 for anyone that needs the restrooms. When we reach Marymoor park we will continue past the park and eventually join the Redmond Central Connector Trail until we reach NE 116th street where we will turn right and cross the Sammamish River back to our starting point.
We will STAY TOGETHER on this ride. It's almost entirely trails, but there are a few crossings of busy streets for us to navigate safely. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Planned Stops:
Mile 0- Restrooms available at the start, but no drinking water
Mile 6 - Sammamish Landing Park - we will stop briefly in case anyone needs the restroom. water avaiable.
Mile 15 - Issaquah Coffee - stop for about 20 minutes so everyone can have coffee/snack
Mile 24 - Sammamish Landing Park - we will stop briefly in case anyone needs the restroom. water avaiable.
Mile 31 - Finish
Fenders! Please be considerate of your fellow riders and have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Things to bring: a spare tube and tools to fix a flat (just in case); a phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. It's also recommended to have a navigation device or at least access to the RWGPS route on your phone, in case you need to finish the ride on your own.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
