Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking lot. Be there, ready to go at 9:00 AM. Come early if you need to use the restroom or buy snacks and drinks. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! We start out climbing the Enumclaw Osceola Plateau to find endless roads without stop lights in the middle of farmlands and pastures with the Cascade Mountains as our backdrop. Then deeper into the woods to find more isolation in Cumberland, Kanaskat, and Ravensdale. On our way back to Auburn, we'll hit the Lake Holm rollers and descend down the segment called "Wheee!"
This is a "brisk" ride where we will maintain 16-18 mph on the flats. However most of our route is a steady climb or descent. So, we will pretty much be riding at our own pace and find occasional times to regroup and check in. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH) and the path in Les Gove Park may be slower.
Restrooms are available at the start, mile 19 at Nolte State Park, Mile 32 at Ravensdale Park. Also at mile 32, is the Ravensdale Market for snacks and drinks
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If its raining, we cancel. If there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, unexpected events, we will reroute in real time. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leaders will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us, HOOA!
