Join us for a Lake Sammamish Loop Ride. One way to make use of those Thanksgiving Calories! This should be scenic, and the conditions on Sunday appear to be favorable, but do be prepared for overcast conditions, and hopefully we can avoid rain (mostly)!
Let's meet at the Tibbetts Valley Skate Park in Issaquah. If you are not familiar with this location, please Google map for directions. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
There is a moderate amount of elevation gain, and a generally easy loop around Lake Sammamish. However, keep in mind that winter riding conditions require fenders. The current forecast indicates temps in the mid 40s at the start, with overcast conditions. Wear warm attire and a water resistant jacket, and warming devices, such as "hotties," for your gloves are highly encouraged.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available near the start. There is a Porta-Pottie near the Skate Park. We’ll plan to stop for coffee/snacks at Peet's Coffee near the Redmond Whole Foods at 14.5 miles. We will regroup occasionally during the ride.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status, such as steady drizzle or rain squalls, or snow falling through the morning and other unforeseen hazardous riding condition, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
What to Know Before You Go
- Advance registration required. Cancel if unable to attend, to open space for others.

- Riders under 18 years old require parental consent & approval from the Ride Leader.
Event Announcements
Having reviewed the weather forecast, today’s ride is ON! It will be COLD, but no precipitation is forecast. Our current temp is 32 degrees in Bellevue, however by 10:00 a.m. it should be about 38 degrees in Issaquah, with a “High” of 44 degrees.
This means that we may have to look out for Frost on some of the trail, (East Lake Sammamish Trail), and be especially cautious in areas that are well shaded. By mid ride - 11:30 - it should be warmer and less of a concern. Do wear layers, warm clothing, consider hand and foot warming devices, and appropriate headgear under your helmet. You can “de-layer” at the mid-ride break, if you consider 43 degrees to be “Balmy”!
Thanks, and look forward to seeing you at the start!!
