Free Group Ride
**CANCELLED** Gas Works to Woodinville...with Coffee! (Steady)
Event has been cancelled.
... of 10 spots remaining
Let's meet at the east end of the parking lot in Gas Works Park. The steady group should gather to the right of the path into the park. Be there, ready to go at 9:00AM for the required safety briefing. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Route: This week's Gas Works...with Coffee! ride takes us to Woodinville for coffee. Our route takes us north through the U. District towards Lake City and Lake Forest Park. A few miles on the Burke-Gilman help us on our way toward Sidekick Coffee in Woodinville. After the break we'll use the Cross Kirkland Corridor to, ahem, cross Kirkland. A loop to the south through Bellevue and Medina brings us to the 520 Trail and from there back to Seattle.
IMPORTANT: The Cross Kirkland Corridor is a well-packed gravel trail open to bikes and pedestrians. We'll be keeping our speeds down on the trails, but if you're uncomfortable on gravel, bring a bike with slightly wider tires if you can.
Restrooms: Restrooms are available at the start/end at Gas Works Park and at Sidekick Coffee (MP 17).
Pace: We will be aiming for the steady range (12-14 MPH on the flats, slower on the climbs and faster on the descents), but the front of the group will be hitting the higher end of that range. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup as needed. We plan to start as one group, but if a consistent significant gap (i.e. loss of visual contact between the two groups) forms, the float may become the sweep for the front group and the sweep will stay with the second group. We will limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15MPH, occasionally 10MPH).
Be prepared: Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, ORCA card, water. You may also want to bring a snack if you don't plan to buy anything to eat at the break.
There is a always a chance of rain in the Pacific Northwest. Check the weather beforehand, dress appropriately and please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Weather Cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leaders will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leaders will not be at the start location. Please check your email Sunday morning before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!

Event Announcements
Sorry everyone, I’m cancelling today’s ride. I’ve been holding off, hoping the forecast would improve since it hasn’t been raining overnight, but I’ve heard the east side is littered with debris from yesterday’s storms and current forecasts are calling for more wind and rain today.
Stay safe everyone.

The 520 trail is closed this weekend for several activities as part of the recently completed Montlake Project (SR 520 Construction Corner | WSDOT). This closure, plus several unpleasant detours along the Cross Kirkland Trail has prompted a revision of the planned route for tomorrow’s coffee ride from Gas Works To Woodinville.
Please make sure to update your copy of the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52503019
The distance is about the same, but the elevation gain has increased by about 360’. We will now plan on returning from Bellevue via I-90 instead of 520, going up through the Central District, down Interlaken, across the University Bridge and back to the Burke Gilman Trail.
Even with all the work that Robert Botchek has put into salvaging this ride, there is still a strong possibility that we will need to cancel due to the forecasted rain and winds tomorrow. Please be sure to check your email or the ride posting before 7 am tomorrow morning before suiting up for the ride.
