Hills Out Of Auburn! Points on the Sound (Vigorous)
Ride Contact
Event has already happened.
... of 15 spots remaining
Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking lot. Be there, ready to go at 9:00 am. Come early if you need to buy snacks and drinks or use the bathroom. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! What's the Point of 4200 ft of Climbing, hmmm? First, its a monster climb over Cemetary Hill, then across Federal Way to Browns Point. Then climb out of Browns Point via Dash Point, to make our way towards Redondo Beach. Climb out of Redondo and follow Marine View Drive to Normandy Park and Three Tree Point. Then climb out of Three Tree Point for the food stop at Bakery Nouveau! Some will argue, this is the main Point, but its not a Point. Whatever, just make sure to eat here, the climbing isn't over just yet; sandwiches, pastries, coffee...this is HOOAs favorite bakery! The point is, you will need this well-deserved refueling, because there's more climbing for the return back to Auburn.
We are a vigorous group, and we climb and descend hills at our own pace and occasionally regroup. We'll also limit our speed on the BPA trail to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Now, let me point out the stops.
Restrooms, Snacks and Drinks are available at the start if you arrive early enough.
Restroom break at Browns Point. (mile 15.5)
Restrooms, water, and food at Bakery Nouveau (mile 38)
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Theres no point in being stranded. If that happens, make sure you have a backup plan. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group, not at the point.
Note: If its raining like crazy, I don't see the point in riding. If there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, we will find a way around them. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, We will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us, and see the Points. HOOA!
