Transit Riders biking the East Lake Sammamish Trail (Steady)
Registration Now Open
... of 10 spots remaining
Let's meet at the east entrance of the Downtown Redmond light rail station. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Let's combine the fun of riding transit with a scenic bike ride on the East Lake Sammamish Trail! The 2-Line's downtown Redmond extension makes it even easier to access the several trails around Redmond. So why not take the train (or one of the connecting buses) to get to the start point? Catch up on your favorite series or dive into that book you have been meaning to read while leaving the driving to our fabulous public transit employees.
Getting to the Start
- By Transit: Take the 2-Line (or any of the nearby bus routes) to Downtown Redmond station. If you are not accustomed to taking transit, check the "Links" section on the right side of this listing for helpful resources, or feel free to ask the Ride Leader any questions before the day of the ride.
- Bike access: The station is well connected to several nearby trails.
- Driving: We understand not everyone can take transit. There are multiple options for parking nearby.
Restrooms are not available at the start, but several businesses nearby do have facilities.
Ride Details
Route: We will ride the entire East Lake Sammamish Trail from Redmond to Issaquah and back, stopping at the Issaquah Coffee Company for a mid-point break. The route is mostly flat.
Pace: We will keep within the posted pace range (12-14 mph). We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together as a group for the entire ride.
Optional One-Way Ride
If you had rather not ride the full distance, you can join us for a one-way ride:
- Take a bus or drive to the Issaquah Transit Center and then meet us at the nearby Tibbetts Valley Park (exact location can be found at the top of this ride listing)
- Please text/email the ride leader well in advance if you plan to join us at Issaquah. The group from Redmond will arrive around 10:15 AM.
- Have a plan to get back to the transit center. There are several transit options, all of which roughly take an hour.
Safety
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
