Eastside Loop - lunch at Dilettante (Moderate)
Registration Now Open
... of 6 spots remaining
Let’s meet in the parking lot near Dilettante Mocha Cafe in the Bellefield Office Park next to the Mercer Slough. There is plenty of parking in the office park, so let’s leave the spaces nearest to Dilettante Mocha Cafe for other customers. Be there, ready to ride at 10 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
ROUTE: Join us on this 33 mile, moderately hilly route along trails and roads in Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and Issaquah. We will get warmed up with our first climbs heading north through Bellevue and Kirkland. We’ll then head up to Juanita Bay Park and then east through Kirkland over to the newly completed Willows Road bike path paralleling the Sammamish River Trail until we get to Marymoor Park and begin the gentle climb south along the West Lake Sammamish Parkway, and then finally return along the I-90 trail.
LUNCH: We can enjoy lunch on a nice grassy area along the Mercer Slough at the end of the ride.
PACE: We will be riding a MODERATE pace of 14-16 MPH on the flats, slower on the climbs, and much faster on the descents. Riders should climb and descend hills at your own pace. We will regroup at a safe location near the top or before turns. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
RESTROOMS: Restrooms are available at the start at Dilettante, but we can also stop at the restrooms in Kirkland Marina Park at mile 6 if needed, in Marymoor Park at mile 19, and at the porta potty just beyond Sunset Elementary School at mile 27 if needed.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group. Please also download the route to a device or bring a printed copy.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
