Bike Transit: Elliott Bay Views with Water Taxi (Leisurely)
Registration Now Open
... of 20 spots remaining
Let's meet at Pier 50 where the West Seattle Water Taxi departs. Be there, ready to go at 4:30 to catch the 4:45 water taxi. Bring an Orca card for easy payment if you have one. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
This scenic route will show riders how to take their bike to West Seattle on the Water Taxi, and how to connect back into downtown from West Seattle using bike paths and bike lanes. The ride starts with a 15-minute ferry ride, so wear an extra layer of clothing. Then we'll ride about 5 flat miles, with two short side quests to explore Jack Block and Jack Perry Parks. We'll end where we started by 6 pm.
This is a transit-friendly ride: Connect to the ride start using Link Light Rail Pioneer Square Station or Westlake Transit Center. We do not reccomend attempting to park a car near the ferry terminals.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are not available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms at Seacrest and Jack Block Park.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. We suggest front and rear bike lights for getting home from this ride. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
