Let's head a little farther out in Snohomish County this weekend, and explore the scenic back roads around Goldbar and Index! This route is based on Cascade Rider Leader John Lindseth's "Goldbar, Index out to Road's End", dubbed one of the nicest routes in the area (see pictures in link). The washout has been repaired, so the road now goes through, but it still tends to be lightly trafficked.
Let's meet near the gazebo at Gateway Park in Goldbar. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
NOTE THAT THERE ARE NOT RESTROOMS AND WATER AT THE START!
We will climb some scenic hills out of Goldbar, eventually descending along the river into Index. After a quick water/bathroom break in Index, we will continue following the road out along the river, turning around near the old washout. On the way back, we will make a stop at Index General store for snacks.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently.
Restrooms ARE NOT available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 11 and 22. Snacks will be available for purchase at the Index General store at Mile 22.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions (such as smoke) or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
