Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer in the northwest parking area. Be there, ready to go 8:00. Come early if you need to use the bathroom or buy drinks and snacks. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! Two short rides in one. The first half will be a nice loop through Black Diamond. We will visit Lake Morton, Lake Sawyer, and Lake Holmes/ Lake Moneysmith. This first loop is 28 miles and 900 ft of gentle climbing and rollers. We will meet back at Fred Meyer to refuel for the second half, or drop you off if you prefer a shorter ride. The second half climbs up and over Federal Way to drop down to Redondo. We make our way north along the water to Des Moines Marina. Then return to Redondo to make that insane climb back out. From there, it's mostly downhill back to Fred Meyer. This second loop is 31 miles with 2100 ft of steeper climbing
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).
Restrooms are available at the start, mile 16 Ten Trails Park in Black Diamon, mile 28 Auburn Fred Meyer, mile 43 Des Moines Marina.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: The weather looks perfect for a ride. If there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, I will reroute the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
