Hills Out Of Auburn heads to Vashon (Vigorous)

Let's meet at the Auburn Fred Meyer. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above because we have a ferry to catch!  Our timing is tight, so please plan ahead and get there with plenty of time to get yourself ready to roll right at 7:30.  The goal is to make the 9:15 ferry but we need to allow time to buy tickets. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done.  All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.  

From Auburn we will head to the Point Defiance ferry terminal and across to Vashon. After a loop around Vashon we will ferry back to Tacoma and wind our way through Sumner before returning to Auburn. 

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup frequently.  We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We will have access to restrooms/water on the ferry at mile 22, and again on the way back at mile 60. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Snapdragon Bakery and Cafe at mile 40, and Metropolitan Market at mile 65.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A WAY TO PAY FOR THE FERRY, YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING ONTO THE FERRY!  (the cost for an adult with a bicycle is $7.75)  Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
