Free Group Ride
Meet the High Performance Cycling Team Lake Sammamish Loop (Vigorous)
Event has already happened.
... of 15 spots remaining
Registration deadline was 8/30/2025 8:00am
Let's meet at the parking lot near the Tibbetts Valley Skatepark (not near the ball fields). There is a Sanican at the back-left (southeast) corner of the parking lot. Continue on the path from there just a few feet and there are indoor restrooms and a water fountain at the tennis courts. Be ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
The purpose of this ride is for riders interested in the High Performance Cycling Team to have a chance to meet team members and learn about the team. HPC has over 100 members throughout the metro area, with team rides starting from various locations. You have probably seen the team jerseys around town and may be wondering what the team is all about.
HPC is intended for cyclists who like to ride fast, hard, far, and climb hills in a non-racing environment. The team is dedicated to supporting strong cyclists who want to improve their skills and fitness while practicing safe group cycling techniques. Cascade's High Performance Cycling Team is a perfect fit for:
- Riders who are developing fitness and skills and want to ride with folks who are faster and more experienced
- Strong riders who are looking for compatible cycling buddies who regularly do long, scenic, challenging rides
At the end of the ride, there will be opportunities for riders to form into groups if they would like to continue riding. There are many great climbs on Squak and Cougar Mountains that are easily accessible from Tibbets.
As a reminder, per Cascade policy, e-bikes are not permitted on Vigorous-paced rides.
We will stay together as a group. We'll limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum. After a short distance on the East Lake Sammamish Trail, we will ride in the wide shoulder of East Lake Sammamish Parkway instead of on the trail .
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop mid-ride for restrooms/water at Marymoor Park and for a brief discussion of the High Performance Cycling Team.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Be prepared to complete the ride on your own, should your bike require a time-consuming repair. The group will stop briefly to ensure you are okay, but will not wait for repairs to be completed if they take more than a few minutes. Please have a backup plan if you are unable to ride to the finish.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
