We meet at the east end of the parking lot in Gas Works Park. Be there, ready to go at 9:00AM for the required safety briefing. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
For our penultimate Fall '25 Gas Works...with Coffee ride we'll explore Mercer Island and Clyde Hill. From Gas Works we'll make our way along the west side of Lake Washington to Leschi, hop over to Mercer Island on the I-90 Trail, follow a counterclockwise path around the perimeter of Mercer Island, hop back on the I-90 Trail east to Beaux Arts Village, and from there north through Bellevue to a coffee break at Queen Bee Cafe in Clyde Hill. We'll wrap up by crossing the 520 bridge back to UW, ending with a short stint on the Burke-Gilman back to Gas Works Park.
Bathrooms are available at the start/end at Gas Works Park. There is also a restroom at Queen Bee Cafe (mile 26).
About the pace - We plan to split the moderate ride into two subgroups each week, one “regular moderate” subgroup staying in the traditional range (14-16 MPH), and one “faster moderate” subgroup (16 MPH on the flats, occasionally higher). We climb and descend hills at our own pace and regroup frequently so nobody gets left behind. We limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15MPH, occasionally 10MPH).
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, ORCA card, water. You may also want to bring a snack if you don't plan to buy anything to eat at the break.
There is a always a chance of rain in the PNW. Check the weather beforehand, dress appropriately and please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed above or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leaders will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, the Ride Leaders will not be at the start location. Please check your email Sunday morning before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
