Let's meet at the east end of the Gas Works Park parking lot. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
Who doesn't like a ferry ride? This route will have two ferry trips. We'll start the SMART talk promptly at 7:30am and bike along the west side of Lake Union to Coleman Dock and board the 8:35am ferry to Bremerton. You will need a ferry ticket which you can buy online or use your ORCA card or purchase it at the terminal. After a 50 minute journey we'll arrive in Bremerton and bike to Poulsbo for lunch and then travel to Bainbridge to catch the ferry back to the Coleman Dock. From there we'll head back to Lake Union and bike along its east side, around Portage Bay and finish at Gas Works Park. It's a long day and I hope to return to Gas Works Park by 4pm, but it may be as late as 5pm so please plan accordingly. Given the four hour time limit for parking in the Gas Works Park parking lot, please park either across the street or on one of the several side streets near the park.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together. While there are no steep climbs on this route, there are several long and steady climbs so if you're looking for a flat route this ride is not for you.
Restrooms are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at miles 6, 22, 36 and on the ferries. We’ll also stop for coffee/snacks at Poulsbo Woodfired Pizza at mile 22. Since we are taking the ferry, riders are strongly encouraged to purchase their ferry ticket before the ride, the ticket costs $11.25. The web site to purchase tickets is below. The purchased ticket is round trip so you don't need to purchase a separate ticket for the Winslow to Seattle ferry.

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
We hope you can join us!
