Let's meet at the Heritage Park. Be there, ready to go at 9:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
PARKING - The Heritage Park has a sign limiting parked cars to four hours. We may go over that. So, we should consider parking up on the street.
We are going to do the South Lake Washington loop and return on the 520 bridge.
We are going to head north from Seward Park (the small business district) and hit all the small communities that run along what I call the Mount Baker Ridge. That will include Seward Park, Columbia City, Mount Baker, Mount Baker Ridge, Leshi, and Madrona. This will slow us down a bit, but there will be some interesting things to see.
We will stay within the rated "Steady" speed for level riding. We will climb and descend hills at our own pace. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH). Our route also crosses the Washington Park Arboretum stone bridge, where will will dismount and walk.
Restrooms are available at: Marina Park in Kirkland (right after the start), Gene Coulon Park in Renton, and the bakery in Columbia City, where we will stop for a short break.
Headlights and tail lights are not required, but the ride leader believes it never hurts to have lights on your bike. A rear view mirror is useful too.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.
Weather cancellation: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is canceled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride location.
If you have questions, please contact the Ride Leader.
Did I mention that the start time is 9:00 AM?
We hope you can join us!
