Let's meet at Auburn Fred Meyer in the Northwest Parking Lot. Be there, ready to go at 8:00 AM. We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.
HOOA! This ride will take us deep into SE King County. Once we get out of Auburn, let's see how many miles we can ride without seeing a traffic light. We start with a long gentle climb up Auburn Black Diamond Road to Lake Morton. After circling the lake, we head east past Ravensdale into Kangley. Here is where we get lost in the cadence and wish all roads were like this—then we are rewarded with the stunning descent into the Green River Gorge. We will stop here for pictures and then climb our way out to the Black Diamond Bakery. Then it's downhill from here into Green Valley for a meandering flat recovery through pastures and farmland back to Auburn.
We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will stay together.
Restrooms, snacks and hydration are available at the start. We will stop along the way for restrooms at the Lake Morton Porta Potty at mile 11, Ravensdale Market for hydration and snacks at mile 19, Black Diamond Bakery for restrooms, pastries and hydration at mile 36.
Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Other things to bring: sunscreen, phone, ID, cash and/or credit card, water, and small snacks.
Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions or other unexpected events, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check before leaving for the ride.
