Mercer Island and the South End of Lake Washington Loop - Independence Day Ride (Steady)

Happy Independence Day! 

Join me for a ride around Mercer Island (usually little traffic) and the southern part of Lake Washington. This has been a popular route, a relatively easy 33 mile ride with 1350 feet of climbing. And if we can finish by 13:00, you will have ample time to make it to the rest of your planned events on the 4th of July!  

We will start at Enatai Beach Park, which is nicely located near to Seattle, Bellevue and Newcastle, and has restrooms that are open. If you are not familiar with this location please click on the map link to find it. Be there, ready to go at the time listed above. 

We will start with a required safety briefing, and roll out when that's done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate. 

We will climb and descend hills at our own pace, and we will regroup occasionally. We'll also limit our speed on any multi-use paths to the legal maximum (usually 15 MPH, occasionally 10 MPH).

Restrooms are available at the start. We will plan to stop for coffee and snacks at Third Place Books/Chuck's Hop Shop at mile 17. We will stop along the way for restrooms/water at the Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island (mile 12) and an optional stop at Gene Coulon Park (mile 26). 

Bring a spare tube and tools to fix a flat, just in case. Please wear weather appropriate attire. Other things to bring: phone; ID; cash and/or credit card; ORCA card; water and a small snack. Please have full fenders if the roads are wet, or you may be asked to ride at the rear of the group.

Note: If weather conditions meet the weather cancellation criterion listed in the Weather Status, or conditions such as steady rain or drizzle, or if there are unforeseen hazardous riding conditions, the Ride Leader will cancel the ride and all registered riders will be sent a notification email. If the ride is cancelled at least two hours before the start, Ride Leader(s) will not be at the start location. Please check your email before leaving for the ride.
